Sweets!

I just finished up this layout with pics from a trip to Coos Bay in April. No trip to the Oregon Coast is complete without a visit to the candy store for salt water taffy!

Time to scrap!

I can't count the number of times I've lost track of time while scrapbooking...because I didn't have a clock in the room! So I doctored this one up...

Stuck, stuck, stuck!

I've been working on the same page for almost a week! It's probably time to set it aside and work on something else, but I think I'll give it one more shot today. Something good did come out of this "scrapper's block"...I reorganized my scrapbooking room (or scrapping book room.) I used a ton of binder clips to hang things from the wire closet shelves, rearranged furniture so I can look out the window from my desk, and hung a shelf to store my lovely embellishments.

And since I have no new pics to share, I thought I'd post these from my "archives." (This page didn't photograph particularly well, the colors are much prettier in person.)

A Father's Love

Though it may sound like a crime, the term "scraplift" simply means to use an idea or technique that you've seen online, in a magazine, in a friend's scrapbook, etc. On a scrapbooking message board I participated in a monthly challenge to create a scraplifted layout. Using a layout design I had seen one of the other board members post previously, I created this page, "A Father's Love." The picture is of dad and I...and the story I've heard is that he was whistling and making bird sounds and I was fascinated by him.
I was still experimenting with this techinique of layering LOTS of embellishments...it obviously takes much more time and materials, but I think it's interesting to look at.

Clip Frames

These are the other two "clip frame" pieces I've made to hang in my scrapbooking room.

"It all started with a mouse" is from our May 2008 trip to Disney World. You'll notice that any Disney project I do has at least 1 hidden Mickey...these ones aren't exactly hidden well, but there are 7 of them (I think.)

Home Depot carries a line of Disney paint, the large red Mickey is a paint sample I picked up there.

"Making Waves" is from our rafting trip on the Deschutes river in July 2008.

Button, button, who's got the button?

I'm pleased with how this turned out...actually I'm very proud of how this turned out!!! It's for and 8x10 frame to hang in my scrapbooking room.

But when you have such an adorable picture to work with, how can you go wrong?

"You're embellishments are lovely!"

Much of what I know about scrapbooking I've learned from my dear friends Susie and Denise. They got me hooked on this hobby and their creativity is inspiring.

Now for an explanation of the title of my new blog, lovely embellishment. Years ago I was showing off to my dad a scrapbook page I had just completed. He looked at it for a moment then with a small smile said, "You're embellishments are lovely."

Apparently Susie had informed him that this was both an appropriate response and one that I would be pleased with. And though I wasn't sure he knew what his compliment meant, I was flattered. It has since been his response to about every page I've shown him.

So I intend to use this blog as a way to share my scrapbooking projects. And seeing as how I don't have a lot going on, I imagine I'll be able to update often. This is my first ever blog, so I'm still learning! Now to see about uploading some pictures...
